Gabriel Machado, 15, who has cerebral palsy and is legally blind and non-verbal, was recently accepted for an Expanded Access Protocol at Duke University Medical Center for an umbilical cord blood infusion. The family is seeking to raise the $15,000 needed for the treatment through a GoFundMe account; scientists believe the infusion may improve brain connectivity and motor function.
