Extreme heat advisory continues through Sunday

Lexington's extreme heat advisory, in effect Aug. 3-9, runs through today, with the Town urging residents to drink plenty of water, avoid heavy activity in the heat, take breaks in shade or air conditioning, and check on those at higher risk. Older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, outdoor workers, and people with chronic medical conditions are especially vulnerable. Residents are encouraged to use Town buildings to cool off; the Town Pool is open 10 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. today, while Cary Memorial Library is closed.
