Lexington to modernize trash/recycling with new carts by 2027
The Town plans to shift to automated trash and recycling collection in summer 2027, providing residents with new wheeled carts for both, in an effort to control rising costs and reduce waste. Trash, recycling, and compost would continue to be collected weekly. The Select Board finalizes the program design this fall — including cart sizes, overflow options, and flexibility for varied household needs — and staff will host five community input meetings beginning Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Center Dining Room and on Zoom.
