Lexington Woman, 83, Charged in $11M Ponzi Scheme
Federal prosecutors have charged an 83-year-old Lexington resident in an alleged Ponzi scheme of nearly $11 million that they say defrauded more than 200 investors over many years. Authorities allege she kept raising money through promissory notes even after regulators shut down her lending licenses, leaving many victims in serious financial hardship. She has agreed to plead guilty and remains presumed innocent; Patch reported the charges Aug. 3.
