Lexington issues extreme heat advisory through Aug. 9

The Lexington Department of Public Health issued an extreme heat advisory on Aug. 3 covering a heat wave expected across Massachusetts from Monday, Aug. 3 through Monday, Aug. 9. Cooling centers are open at Cary Library and the Community Center, and residents are encouraged to use any available Town building to cool off; posted hours may be extended and are subject to change. Officials urge residents to drink water, limit alcohol, avoid heavy activity in the heat, and check on older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, outdoor workers, and people with chronic medical conditions.
