Partial Solar Eclipse and Perseid Meteor Shower Align Aug. 12

In Boston, Wednesday's partial solar eclipse begins just after 1 p.m., peaks at 1:55 p.m. with 16% of the sun covered, and ends at 2:46 p.m. That is not enough coverage to produce any noticeable change in light, and viewing requires glasses certified to the ISO 12312-2 standard. The path of totality does not cross the United States this time, but the Perseid meteor shower is visible the same day.
