Hingham Water Restrictions Extended Into October

The Weir River Water System told customers September 22 that drought has left tanks and reservoir levels critically low, with a September 10 photo showing Accord Pond visibly depleted and vegetation growing where water normally sits. Tank levels have dropped from the low operating range into the critical range in the past week, which the system warns may affect water quality and, more importantly, flow and pressure for fire department use. Mandatory Level 2 restrictions stay in effect through October, barring all non-essential outdoor water use including lawn irrigation, washing vehicles and buildings, and filling pools; the system points to a sharp overnight drop between 3 and 8 a.m. as evidence of automatic lawn watering.
