Harvard Square Super Crosswalks Close Today for Paver Replacement

City contractor Newport Construction will close both Super Crosswalks between the Harvard Square Kiosk and the Harvard Coop from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday to replace the concrete pavers with asphalt, with Friday, Oct. 2, as the rain date. Detours with signage will be in place, on-street parking will be affected, and the city asks pedestrians to follow posted signs and detail officers and allow extra time. Crews will return in spring 2027 for crosswalk reconstruction.
