Cambridge Commits $600K to Help Residents Facing SNAP, MassHealth Cuts

The City Council on Monday night approved $500,000 from Cambridge's Federal Grant Stabilization Fund to help residents navigate federal changes to SNAP and MassHealth, with the Cambridge Community Foundation adding $100,000 for a $600,000 total. The money will go toward outreach, application assistance, case management and coordination as new rules change work requirements and narrow eligibility for immigrants. The effort builds on a partnership formed during the November 2025 federal shutdown; last week the city, the Cambridge Economic Opportunity Committee, the foundation and more than 30 community organizations met to launch a unified strategy.
