MBTA Apologizes for Red Line Delays After Reopening

Days after the Red Line reopened from a planned 10-day shutdown between Park Street and Alewife, the MBTA issued an apology Aug. 9 for near-hourly delays that have hit riders over the past week. The T said the causes of the signal issues are still under investigation, but noted that minor adjustments may be needed as trains run over newly upgraded signals, switches and interlockings. Problems began almost immediately after the northwest section reopened on July 31, including smoke reported that day.
