Statewide Shellfish Closure Takes Effect Amid Storm

The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries has closed all shellfish growing areas in the state as a precaution against predicted high winds, coastal flooding and heavy rainfall from the nor'easter. The closure took effect a half-hour before sunrise on Saturday, September 26, and covers all shellfish except conch and sea scallop adductor muscle. Digging, harvesting or possessing shellfish taken from any Massachusetts waters is prohibited while the closure is in effect.
