43 Hemenway St. affordable condos celebrate grand opening
The Mayor's Office of Housing joined Fenway Forward, community partners, and residents on Aug. 26 to mark the grand opening of 43 Hemenway St., where an existing brick row house has been converted into six renovated, income-restricted condominiums for first-time homebuyers. The restored building includes a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and three-bedroom homes with renovated kitchens and bathrooms, hardwood floors, and air conditioning, while retaining the building's historic character. Housing Chief Sheila A. Dillon said the city helped Fenway Forward purchase and convert the building to create stable homes in a market out of reach for many; the site is a five-minute walk from the Emerald Necklace, Symphony Hall, a grocery store, and the Green Line.
