MBTA Starts Two-Hour Unlimited Transfer Pilot Tuesday

Beginning Tuesday, riders can make unlimited transfers between bus, subway and ferry within a two-hour window and pay only the highest fare of any single trip leg; previously riders were limited to two transfers with further restrictions. Transfers apply only when the same form of payment is used for every leg. The MBTA says older CharlieCards that have not been loaded with value in the past year may not apply the benefit correctly, and can be activated by adding any amount at a fare vending machine.
