Somerville Teen Program Receives $100K City Grant

Teen Time @ The Dojo, a partnership between the Center for Teen Empowerment and The Dojo at Somernova, will receive $100,000 from the city's Department of Health and Human Services to expand free programming, mentorship, and leadership opportunities. The funding allows year-round weekly programming and a free after-school gathering space for Somerville youth ages 14 to 19, with outreach focused on immigrant youth, youth experiencing housing insecurity, and others facing barriers to enrichment. Offerings will include arts projects, STEAM and robotics, civic engagement, workforce-readiness and financial literacy workshops, and recreation, with Books of Hope joining to provide programming such as open mic nights.
