Nine-Day Green Line Suspension Begins Between Boston, Somerville

Green Line service is suspended for nine consecutive days, August 8 through 16, between Government Center and Babcock Street on the B branch, Government Center and Cleveland Circle on the C branch, North Station and Kenmore on the D branch, and Heath Street and North Station on the E branch. The MBTA is using the outage for two projects: replacing the century-old signal system in the central Green Line tunnel and accessibility improvements on the C branch. The agency says the new signals will improve train detection, ease congestion in the tunnel and lay the groundwork for more frequent, more reliable service.
