MBTA Restores Red Line Service Following Major Track Repair Shutdown

The MBTA announced July 31 that it finished track work between Alewife and Park Street, ending 10 consecutive days of shuttle bus service on that stretch of the Red Line. Crews repaired many floating slabs, worked in complicated track areas and upgraded Red Line signals. Interim Secretary of Transportation and MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng said the work was aimed at avoiding a return to the speed restrictions that slowed trips for decades, and thanked riders for their patience.
