State primary registration deadline, early voting begin today

Saturday, Aug. 22 is the final day for Cambridge residents to register to vote or update their address or party affiliation ahead of the Sept. 1 State Primary. The Election Commission office at 689 Massachusetts Ave. is open for in-person registration from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and online registration stays open until 11:59 p.m.; mailed registrations must be postmarked today. In-person early voting also begins today and runs through Friday, Aug. 28, and the deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m.

Fresh Pond body identified as 41-year-old man; no foul play suspected

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office and Cambridge Police identified the body found along the Fresh Pond shoreline on Aug. 11 as a 41-year-old man known to the area. Preliminary findings show no signs of trauma, and no foul play is currently suspected.
