Body found in Fresh Pond; no threat to drinking water, city says

Cambridge Police and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office confirmed Aug. 11 that a body was found in Fresh Pond, and said preliminary indications are that it had been in the water for an extended period. City spokesman Jeremy Warnick said residents need not be concerned about the drinking water supply, because water from the pond passes through Cambridge's Water Treatment plant before reaching taps. An investigation is under way, and police said further information would be released as it becomes available.
