Sciarappa Street water main work brings detours
August 11, 2026
Top story
Water main replacement begins on Sciarappa Street
City contractor Newport Construction is scheduled to begin replacing the water main on Sciarappa Street from Monsignor O'Brien Highway to Gore Street starting the week of August 10, weather permitting. Work hours are generally 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with detours and frequently changing "No Parking" signs; access to properties will be maintained but may be briefly restricted, and emergency vehicles and City services will retain access. The installation and water service tie-ins are expected to take about eight weeks and will cause occasional water shutdowns, which the Cambridge Water Department will announce to residents in advance.
