Roadway paving enhancements begin on several major streets

Beginning Monday, Aug. 10, weather permitting, city contractor Newport Construction starts roadway milling and paving on sections of Broadway (Lee to Quincy), Quincy Street (Cambridge to Kirkland), Main Street (Galileo Way to Ames), Mount Auburn Street (Willard to Lowell) and Channing Street (Brattle to Mount Auburn). Milling at each location is expected to take several days, with paving to follow once grinding is done at all sites. Work runs 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays; no-parking signs go up at least 24 hours ahead, vehicles must be moved before 7 a.m., and detours will be in effect.
