Boston Police officials testified at a City Council hearing that 40% of local gun crimes involve motorized scooters, as both victims and shooters. BPD has confiscated 289 more scooters this summer than last, and Deputy Superintendent John Fitzgerald called the vehicles motorcycles, not scooters, to emphasize enforcement under existing traffic laws.
