Green Line Service Suspended Aug. 8–16 for Signal Work

The MBTA said Tuesday that Green Line service will be suspended for nine consecutive days, August 8 through 16, between Government Center and Babcock Street on the B branch, Government Center and Cleveland Circle on the C, North Station and Kenmore on the D, and North Station and Heath Street on the E. Crews will use the shutdown for two projects: critical signal upgrades in the central Green Line tunnel and the C Branch Accessibility Improvements Project. The agency says the century-old signal system will be replaced with modern technology that improves train detection, congestion management and train spacing, laying the groundwork for more reliable service.
