Davis Square MBTA Escalator Accident Injures Commuter

A woman fell around 7 a.m. Friday when her clothing caught in the mechanism at the bottom of an escalator at Davis Square Station, according to an MBTA spokesperson. A rider ahead of her hit the emergency stop button and helped free the clothing; she was taken to an area hospital with a hand injury and is expected to be OK. The MBTA noted that any rider can stop an escalator using the red "STOP" button at the top and bottom, and said the incident comes months after Steven McCluskey died in a February fall on an escalator at the same station.
