Parents Raise Concerns Over School Consolidation Plan
The Somerville Neighborhood School Advocacy Group published an appeal on July 22 opposing the city's plan to build a 925-child K-8 school consolidating the Benjamin G. Brown School with the Winter Hill Community Innovation School. More than 1,200 residents have raised concerns about walkability, traffic, school choice, neighborhood access, and the loss of the city's two smallest elementary schools, along with a lack of seats for children on the west side of Somerville. The group says the city is moving toward committing to the project before studying many of the impacts residents have asked about for months.
