Danvers Firefighters Aid Four-Alarm Rockport Fire

Danvers was among 10 departments sending mutual aid to a four-alarm fire at a mixed-use building at 19 Broadway Ave. in Rockport on Sunday morning. Crews responded to a report of a strong gas odor at about 9:58 a.m., found thick black smoke and an active fire, and knocked it down around 1 p.m. No injuries were reported, but at least two families and commercial businesses were displaced; the Rockport Fire Department and State Police are investigating the cause.
