Revolutionary Tea on a Gambrel Roof at Tapley Memorial Hall
The Danvers Historical Society stages a free dramatization of Lucy Larcom's 1875 poem "A Gambrel Roof" today at Tapley Memorial Hall, 13 Page Street, with doors at 2:30 p.m. and curtain at 3 p.m. as part of Trails & Sails. The production retells the story of Sarah Page taking tea on the roof of the Jeremiah Page House to skirt her husband's ban on taxed tea inside it, with period music, an art installation and a Q&A afterward. Reservations are strongly recommended; the building and parking are wheelchair accessible, with additional parking in the Elm Street lot, and donations are appreciated.
