Escaped Prison Cattle Roamed Concord Before Being Rounded Up
Cattle from the farm at the Northeastern Correctional Center broke loose around 7:30 a.m. on August 31, steering through the woods toward backyards on Whits End Road, The Concord Bridge reports. Town moderator Karlen Reed, who lives next to the farm, called Concord police and texted neighbors, who assembled an impromptu posse with offers of leashes and bloodhounds. Staff repaired the fence and returned the animals.
