Wu unveils $35M fund to speed up housing construction

Mayor Michelle Wu announced that the City's Housing Accelerator Fund will competitively award up to $35 million in low-cost construction loans or equity investments to Boston housing developments that are ready to begin construction and include an affordable component. Among the projects named is the 266-unit Bunker Hill Building F development in Charlestown. The fund is meant to fill a gap in construction financing, since private loans typically cover only 60 to 75 percent of a project's cost.
