Cambridge launches safety overhauls at high-crash intersections

After seven traffic deaths in the last four years, the Cambridge Department of Transportation has started a formal review program for its most dangerous intersections, starting with Massachusetts Avenue at Albany Street, which tops the city's list of High Crash Locations. Mass Ave at Vassar Street and Hampshire Street at Prospect Street are also slated for review, with safety reviews and installations to begin later this year. A CDOT spokesperson said the program grew out of concerns from the City Council and others after recent fatalities, and the list will be updated every two years as part of the city's Vision Zero effort.
