School Committee Delays AI Math Tutoring Contract
The School Committee on Sept. 20 postponed a contract extension for Edia Learning, an AI math-tutoring platform used for the past two years by Cambridge Rindge and Latin teachers in algebra 1, algebra 2 and geometry. Members questioned how the software squares with district AI restrictions now under review, with vice chair Caitlin Dube warning against "experimenting on our students." Superintendent David Murphy said use of the tool is not compulsory and that he is "tentatively comfortable with it," but pledged to notify families who had not been told; member Elizabeth Hudson said the committee's job was simply to approve the contract.
