City Council committee to weigh stricter short-term rental rules
The City Council's Ordinance Committee, run by councillors Marc McGovern and Jivan Sobrinho-Wheeler, meets from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., to consider updates to city laws on short-term rentals such as Airbnbs and Vrbos, which the city says have sometimes been run illegally and disrupted neighborhoods. The proposed changes would impose more registration requirements and time restrictions and add enforcement mechanisms. The hearing is televised and can be watched online or joined by Zoom.
