Body found in Fresh Pond, investigation underway

Cambridge Police and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office confirmed Tuesday that a body was found in Fresh Pond, and said preliminary indications are that it had been in the water for an extended period. City spokesman Jeremy Warnick said residents need not be concerned about the city's drinking water, because water from the pond passes through Cambridge's Water Treatment plant before reaching taps. The investigation is ongoing, and police said further information would be released as it becomes available.
