Community mourns housing advocate Kevin Foster after drowning

Kevin Foster, 55, a housing advocate and member of the city's Community Preservation Act committee, died July 31 at Long Point beach in West Tisbury after entering the water to help swimmers, including his sons, who were caught in a rip current. A spokesperson for the Cape and Islands district attorney confirmed that Foster was pulled into the current along with four others; he was one of several beachgoers who worked to rescue those swept out to sea. His death has prompted an outpouring of grief in Cambridgeport.
