Government Review Committee Delivers Charter Report to Select Board

Burlington's Government Review Committee handed the Select Board its final report and recommendations on Monday, closing out 15 months of work. Commissioned in early 2025, the committee grew out of a 2018 Select Board review whose recommendations the town has worked through one by one, including converting the Treasurer/Collector role to an appointed position in 2019 and a 2025 vote that narrowly kept the Town Clerk elected, 52.1% to 47.9%. The committee's work also prompted a communications audit with UMass Boston's Collins Center and the town's new Communications Officer position.
