Warren, Trahan Press Federal Officials on Burlington ICE Facility Conditions

Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Lori Trahan made an unannounced congressional oversight visit to the Burlington ICE facility on Sept. 8, walking through every part of the detention area during an hour-long inspection and witnessing over two dozen people held for processing. In a joint statement released Sept. 9, they said immigration attorneys and community advocates have reported individuals detained for multiple days without adequate food, medical care, or sleeping conditions. The two said they questioned ICE about constituents' concerns and pressed for more humane treatment, pledging to keep pushing for transparency and accountability.
