Retired attorney challenges Dolan for Governor's Council seat

Retired trial attorney and family court reform advocate Margie Palladino is challenging incumbent Mara Dolan for the District 3 seat on the Massachusetts Governor's Council, which includes Brookline, parts of Boston and two dozen other towns. Palladino says she entered the race after Dolan voted in April to confirm Mary Ferriter, the former head of a controversial court-ordered parenting program, to the Probate and Family Court; Dolan calls Ferriter "extraordinarily well-qualified." The two Democrats meet on the primary ballot September 1 in one of the few contested races for the body that reviews the governor's judicial appointments.
