Bodycam footage shows Brookline police role in May ICE incident

Body-camera footage obtained by Brookline.News through a public records request shows five Brookline officers at a May 14 confrontation between ICE agents and a distressed detainee near Boylston and Eliot streets in Chestnut Hill. The officers waved traffic through, spoke briefly and tersely with the federal agents, and at times asked bystanders to stand back; one is heard saying, "We can't get involved." It is the first extended documented encounter between Brookline police and federal immigration agents since the town adopted its strict policy of non-cooperation with immigration enforcement.
