Former Braintree detective faces harassment charge after tech misuse probe
The town confirmed that retired detective Mark Sherrick misused police resources, including more than 1,000 searches of one license plate tied to his ex-girlfriend on the department's Flock camera system. Court records say he also placed a GPS device on her car and tracked it with a department-issued cell phone, and he now faces a criminal harassment charge covering January to February 2025. Sherrick retired on April 2, 2025, during a third-party investigation into his conduct; Mayor Erin Joyce says the town maintains strict conduct standards.
