Beverly boy throws first pitch at Fenway after cancer treatment

Ten-year-old Beckett Connolly threw a ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park on Sept. 13, before the Red Sox played the Kansas City Royals, with his twin sister Ailish and his parents on the field. Diagnosed with aggressive liver cancer in late 2024, he had chemotherapy and surgery at Boston Children's Hospital before receiving a living-donor transplant; Beverly resident Amanda Neal donated 40% of her liver at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, according to Boston 25 News. Beckett has since returned to school, soccer and bike riding, and he and Neal appeared together as grand marshals in a Beverly parade.
