Garvin Declines Merit Pay Hike for Second Year
Town Administrator Patrice Garvin turned down a 1.5 percent merit increase voted by the Select Board after her Sept. 22 performance review, asking that the roughly $3,300 remain in the salary reserve to help fund police and fire contracts. It is the third pay hike she has waived in nearly a decade on the job, following a 2 percent increase declined in September 2025 and another in June 2020. Board Chair Taylor Yates called the move "incredibly generous and thoughtful"; Garvin's salary was set in 2025 at $229,500, and her review scored 4.7 out of 5.
