Recount Reaffirms Brownsberger's State Senate Primary Win
A districtwide recount finalized Sept. 17 reaffirmed State Sen. Will Brownsberger's Democratic primary win over Daniel Lander, with a final margin of 35 votes across Belmont, Watertown and precincts in Boston and Cambridge. Brownsberger had led by 34 votes districtwide on election night, 12,291 to 12,257, close enough for both candidates to seek a recount. Belmont's portion took place Sept. 10 at Town Hall, where volunteers at 20 card tables re-tallied all 5,824 ballots cast in the town's eight precincts plus early and mail ballots, under Town Clerk Ellen Cushman and the Registrars of Voters.
