Senate Recount Closes Town Clerk's Office, Hand-Counting Resumes
The Town Clerk's Office is closed to the public Wednesday, Sept. 9, and Thursday, Sept. 10, while staff carry out the state-ordered recount in the Democratic primary for State Senate between Sen. William Brownsberger and Daniel Lander, which was decided by 34 votes. Staff are focused entirely on recount proceedings; inquiries can be emailed to townclerk@belmont-ma.gov or left by phone at 617-993-2603 and will be answered after reopening. Regular office hours resume Friday, Sept. 11, at 8 a.m.

Belmont officials warn that a Florida-based company has been illegally selling sparklers and similar pyrotechnic devices online to Massachusetts residents. Anyone in possession of such items should contact the Fire Prevention Division for safe disposal.
