Belmont Police swears in two new patrol officers

Officers Emily Ricci and Robert Ludwig were sworn in at Town Hall on Monday, Aug. 3, and begin work immediately, according to Police Chief Shane Smith. They are among the first officers Smith has hired since becoming chief on May 4. Ricci joined the department as a dispatcher in 2024 after three years with the Richland County Sheriff's Department in South Carolina, while Ludwig, an Air Force veteran, previously served in the Dracut and Carlisle police departments.
