40B Housing Project on Beatrice Circle Nixed After Sale to Neighbors

A contentious Chapter 40B housing project at 91 Beatrice Circle is no longer in the pipeline after the property sold to neighbors for $1.9 million on July 10. The developer had received a special permit in October 2021 to build 12 units, three of them affordable, following a years-long battle with the neighborhood. Belmont's affordable housing stock currently sits at 6.7%, below the 10% threshold that triggers Chapter 40B's streamlined permitting.
