Free Shakespeare on the Common stages 'Midsummer Night's Dream'

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's 30th-anniversary production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by founding artistic director Steven Maler, continues at the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common nightly except Mondays at 8 p.m. through Aug. 9. The staging sets Shakespeare's comedy in a neon-lit festival, with Nick Cearley of The Skivvies as Puck. Admission is free; all performances are open captioned, chair rentals and Friends Section reservations are available, and Harpoon is serving beer, wine and cocktails on the Common for the first time.
