British-style alehouse to replace shuttered Beacon Hill Pub

Veteran Boston restaurateur Patrick Lyons plans to open Harry Hare's, a British-inspired pub and restaurant, early this fall in the former Beacon Hill Pub space at 149 Charles St., which closed in 2022. Lyons says the dive-bar room will give way to a quieter, polished dining space modeled on traditional English alehouses. The menu, being developed by consulting chef Bill Poirier, formerly of Sonsie, will pair fish and chips, chicken pot pie and steaks with Indian dishes such as tandoori naan and chicken tikka masala; an executive chef has not yet been hired.
