Fatal escalator stabbing sparks homicide probe at South Station

Transit Police responded to a report of a fight in the Red Line station around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and found a man with at least one stab wound; he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police say the preliminary investigation points to an altercation between the victim and another man on an escalator leaving the station, and no arrests have been made. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and gathering video, and District Attorney Kevin Hayden asked anyone with information to contact Boston police.
