Boston Opens Comment Period on Coastal Flood-Risk Plan

Mayor Wu and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a draft coastal storm-risk management plan on July 24, opening public comment through September 18. The plan addresses sea-level rise and flood protection for Back Bay, the MBTA, the Mass Pike and hospital infrastructure. The USACE estimates over 40 percent of Boston residents live in areas at risk of coastal flooding, with a final version headed to Congress in 2028.
