Drake Village redevelopment plan would add 164 affordable homes
The Planning Office for Urban Affairs and the Arlington Housing Authority announced a partnership Sept. 21 to redevelop Drake Village, a state public housing community for seniors and people with disabilities. The cottage-style development would be replaced with a five-story building holding 164 one-bedroom affordable apartments, with 72 units reserved for current residents at their current rents and no one displaced. Officials say the aging cottages require substantial maintenance and many units are not accessible.
