Red Line Riders Scramble on First Day of Shutdown

Commuters faced long waits and confusion on July 21, the first day of the 10-day Red Line suspension between Alewife and Park Street, with some riders saying they weren't adequately warned about the closure's length. At Park Street, shuttle buses lined up down Tremont Street rather than in front of the station, leaving riders to walk in the heat. The line remains partially closed through July 30 as crews work on track improvements, signal upgrades, and concrete slab replacement, affecting stops in Somerville, Cambridge and Boston.
